WELCOME TO THE 2014-2015 SQUASH SEASON!
And here we go again...... We just survived Thanksgiving and most schools are just getting ready for try-outs or their first real practice session this week. But not Winsor, oh no. The Winsor girls have already finished 2.5 weeks of squash with try-outs, challenge matches, fitness and plenty of squash drills. Yes, we do start pretty early. :)
This is the last year that we are called " the homeless team". Our beautiful 5 court facility is in the middle of construction and will be opening in the spring. This is the last year that we have to take a school bus to go to practice and waste precious time on the bus, walking to the gym, changing, then going back to the bus and travel back to school. This is the last year that we are guests at squash courts. This is the last year that we don't have cheering on matches from our teachers and friends because we play too far from school. This is the last year that we need to squeeze 4 players on court at once and the last time we step on a cold, hardball court. Yes, we can't hide how excited we are. :)
We decided that after all those years of cutting players at try-outs, we would actually keep everyone. We have the largest team of all times (once again) with 22 squash players led by Varsity Co-Captains Junnat Anwar '16 and Adrienne Conza '16. We are very excited to introduce 6 new players who decided to join our team: Blair Englert '20, Leslie Moukneiber '19, Sarah Stier '19, Clair Ganiban '18, Kathleen He '18, Priya Shukla '17. It's great to fill up the team with some fresh blood, more passion and even more motivation.
We are all looking forward to this season with a young team (no seniors this year) and ready to continue the last few years of success of Winsor squash. Get ready and hope to see you soon cheering us on!
