Varsity had a long Saturday yesterday that was extremely useful, challenging and an eye-opener for setting our future goals. We have traveled the 2+ long hours to Deerfield Academy to play two matches, one with the host team and the other one with Greenwich Academy from CT.

If you don't follow high school squash on a regular basis, these two matches would not mean anything special to you. You would think it's another regular match for Winsor. But for the rest of us, it's a huge deal. These two teams have been the best two teams in the nation for years. When Winsor's squash was in Division III fighting to win some matches, these power houses were playing the final of Division I. And now, just a few years later, we have a scheduled season match with these two teams and we were able to keep up with them in a rally. Maybe not as long as we would like to, but without a doubt, Winsor is in the same league with these teams now and we will not stop until the very top of Division I. :)

Here are the scores from the matches:
Winsor lost to Deerfield: 3 - 4
  1. Adrienne lost 3-0
  2. Junnat lost 3-0
  3. Alexa J. lost 3-0
  4. Eve lost 3-0
  5. Olivia won 3-1
  6. Tasha won 3-0
  7. Qirrat won 3-0
  8. Alexa G. won 3-0 (bonus match)
Winsor lost to Greenwich: 1 - 6
  1. Adrienne lost 3-0
  2. Junnat lost 3-0
  3. Alexa J. lost 3-0
  4. Eve lost 3-1
  5. Olivia lost 3-1
  6. Tasha lost 3-0
  7. Qirrat won 3-1
  8. Alexa G. lost 3-0 (bonus match)
I'm very proud of everyone's hard work this weekend. The hero of the weekend was Qirrat Anwar, who was not only the youngest player overall, but also the only Winsor player to win both matches. Her name is going into our squash history book as the first player to beat a player from Greenwich! Great job, Qirrat, well done team!

Now let's get back on the court and work even harder!!
